Spicy Content & Creators’ Block: Steps to Overcome It!

Updated: Aug 24, 2023

Creative block can happen to any content creator, but there are strategies you can employ to overcome it. I am the queen of overthinking and will let pressure I put on myself stop me from providing content in a timely fashion. I get creative block quite a bit but for me to do content, I want it to be FUN for me to do. I want my fans to enjoy the content I provide as much as I want to enjoy doing the content I’m creating. Here are some tips that have helped me deal with creative block:

  1. Take a break! Sometimes, stepping away from your work can be the best thing you can do. Take a break, go for a walk, do something unrelated to your content creation. This allows your mind to relax and recharge. After some time, you can go back with fresh eyes and fresh ideas can start to flow. Sometimes I’ll go play with my Oculus to get moving and get my mind off of everything else. Other times a glass of wine helps me to relax and even loosen up.

  2. Never stop seeking out new sources of inspiration. Look at other creators in your niche, explore different genres, or delve into unrelated art forms! This can spark new ideas and help you see things from a fresh perspective. Do you ever see other creators’ content and wish yours could be like that? What’s stopping you from giving it a go? The BEST thing I ever did was take a page out of another creator’s book.

  3. Setting specific goals and deadlines has been a game changer for me. These deadlines and goals help me focus and push through creative block. Break down your more involved content into smaller, achievable tasks. This way, you can work towards completing them one step at a time. Sometimes just being under the pressure of a deadline makes people think better and work harder. I also have ADHD so it pivotal for keeping me on track.

  4. Don’t be afraid to experiment and try new techniques, and styles, Experimenting can help you break free from creative block and discover new approaches that inspire you. Never done foot stuff but saw another creator take an approach you want to try? TRY IT! Even if you get one solid photo or video, it’s still content to post that continues to make your account look active and that’s important to your subscribers. One of the most effective things I’ve done for myself is collaborate with others and bounce ideas off friends or fellow content creators. Brainstorming sessions can help you generate new ideas and perspectives. With Unfiltrd we have a community of creators helping each other daily. I’ve never known a platform like this to be so involved and willing to help creators produce the best content they can. When I’ve been stuck at times I have reached out for help. I have made more money off of collabs and ideas others have provided me with than anything else. Sometimes our own insecurities tend to be what gives us the most creative block.I tend to not make the most of things because I don’t find myself capable of doing it until somebody else suggests what they think might work for me personally. Other people view us vastly differently then we view ourselves. Listen and try it out. If you hate it, don’t post it but just know that things I’ve hated for myself have made me more money.  In the last few years, one of the things that helped me keep myself most motivated and fluent with my content is how I feel about myself. After Covid I learned to practice self-care more regularly than I was. Taking care of yourself physically and mentally is crucial to staying creative. Get enough sleep, eat well, exercise, and engage in activities that bring you joy. A healthy mind and body can positively impact your creativity. There have been times where I wasn’t feeling myself and just chose not to post. I suffered for that but needed to get myself healthy before I could make more content. Don’t be afraid embrace creative block failure. Accept that creative block is a part of the creative process. Embrace failure and setbacks as learning opportunities. Sometimes, the best ideas come from the most unexpected places. Remember, creative block is temporary, and everyone experiences it at some point. Be patient with yourself, and don’t be too hard on your creative process. By implementing these strategies, you can overcome creative block and continue to create high quality content.
